Zawisza lights out vs. WethersfieldThursday, May 3, 2018 NEWINGTON-Joey Zawisza started on the mound today and was lights out, carrying the Indians to a 4-0 victory. The senior only surrendered four hits to the Eagles, while striking out seven and not walking a batter. He improves his strikeout-to-walk ratio to an impressive 33-to-2 so far in 2018. “Couldn't be prouder of the effort by Joey today,” Newington head coach Ben Alaimo said. “We really needed him to step up against a really good team. Wethersfield is very talented well coached and for him to basically put us on his back, just will us to a victory is so impressive. He does so much for us as the senior captain leader. He really contributes on all facets and I’m really proud of his efforts today.” The win for Newington puts them at 7-4 on the season, one game away from clenching its postseason berth. Tim Blaisdale picked up the loss for Wethersfield, who drops to 7-4 as well.
