Baseball wins on walk off on Senior DayTuesday, May 19, 2015
Newington 3, Conard 2: Newington pitcher Pat Donahue entered the top of the seventh inning with a no-hitter, as he had only faced only one over the minimum up to that point. He allowed a walk in the second inning and an error in the sixth, which was erased by a double play. Those were his only two blemishes up to that point. His no-hitter attempt ended in the seventh, as Conard got three hits and two runs to tie the game. But Nick Casasanta made sure Newington won on Senior Night when he hit a walk-off double, securing the victory for the Indians. Casasanta finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs. Donahue only allowed those three hits and one walk while striking out four. With the win, Newington is now 7-10 and in need of one more win to qualify for the state tournament.
