Basebal earns walkoff winTuesday, April 28, 2015 NEWINGTON — The Newington baseball team bounced back from a tough loss over the weekend with perhaps its best win of the year, walking off in extra innings against New Britain for a 5-4 win. The Indians (5-3) got a bases-loaded walk by Lenny Ogando in the eighth, giving Newington the win after New Britain had tied the game in the seventh to force the extra frame. “It was a great bounce back win for us,” Newington coach Ben Alaimo said. “We had an important test to go play at East Catholic (Saturday) and we didn’t show well, so it was even more imoportant for us to bounce back and win the way good teams do. This was a good team effort with lots of contributions from a lot of guys. Nick Casasanta had three hits and drove in two for Newington, while Justin Lawson had two hits for the Hurricanes (5-2), as did Tyree Burns. “It was a good baseball game,” New Britain coach Roberto Mercado said.
