Baseball season comes to a close against HamdenWednesday, May 31, 2017 No. 17 Hamden 7, No. 16 Newington 0: The Indians had their season come to a close as it couldn’t muster any sort of offense against the Green Dragons’ starter Anthony Sitro. In total Newington had just three hits while Joey Zawisza took the loss. Hamden’s Mike Ferrett provided the offense as he hit two two-run home runs. “There is only one team that doesn’t go home disappointed when you are in the state tournament and Hamden beat us,” Newington head coach Ben Alaimo said. “The message is just an appreciation to my senior class for everything they have done. Now the door is open for the under classmen to take their turn and leave a mark. We tip our cap to a good Hamden team but I’m proud of the year we had.”
